24 Hours In Charleston

While not ideal, if you only have 24 hours to spend in the Holy City, we’ve got some suggestions and tips for you! First, if your time is short, it’s important that you hit the ground running early. Don’t worry, we’ve got you covered in the coffee department!

Your first stop of the day is at our favorite quaint spot for coffee at Harken Café on Queen Street, just north of Broad Street. Order the ‘Butter Me Up’ breakfast sandwich and an Earl Grey Lavender Latte to kick start your energy. Grab it to-go and head around the corner and across the street Washington Park and either spread out on the grass or snag one of the benches to enjoy your breakfast.

Afterwards, head south to Broad Street and start your exploration of the beautiful homes in the South of Broad neighborhood. Some of our favorite streets to explore include Legare Street, Orange Street, Meeting Street, and South Battery. If you fancy taking a house tour, pop into the Edmondston Alston House or the Heyward Washington House.

By this point you should be (appropriately!) hungry after your walk for lunch. Walk up East Bay St. towards a classic Charleston eatery, Cru Cafe. Try the Fried Green Tomatoes, you won’t be disappointed. On your way up to Cru Cafe, be sure to make a quick detour towards the iconic Pineapple Fountain in Waterfront Park. The views don’t disappoint and this is the perfect spot for a photo opportunity.

After lunch, you have two options. Either you take advantage of the shopping on King Street, or you hop between the museums on Museum Mile (on Meeting St. between Atlantic Street and Mart Street). Museum Mile is home to The Gibbes Museum of Art, the Old Slave Mart Museum, and even the Children’s Museum of the Lowcountry (a family favorite!) as well as many more. You can learn more about the museums available on Museum Mile here.

The day isn’t over yet! There’s still plenty of time to grab a cocktail at an iconic rooftop such as The Citrus Club or The Vendue. And don’t forget dinner reservations! Charleston is constantly evolving, and we want to make sure you have the best seats in town. Contact On Call Concierge today for all of your reservations and itinerary needs. We promise you’ll love your (short!) time in Charleston.
